Malibu Engagement Photos at El Matador State Beach
Featuring - Domonique and Darell
Malibu beach is a spectacular photography location. El Matador state beach takes the cake for many reasons among so many spots. I’ve longed to go to this beach for a couple’s engagement photography for quite some time. I recently did a project there with the lovely couple Domonique and Darell, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience. Everything from beginning to end was terrific.
Malibu: An Excellent Place For Engagement Photoshoots
El Matador is a trendy spot for a photoshoot in Malibu. As a professional photographer myself, El Matador has been my weakness because of the scenic vistas it offers. It offers a cliff parking lot overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There is a trail through a bed of unusually eroding rocks; then stairs follow the beach. You will also find some stunning sea stacks everywhere. Many amateur and professional photographers prefer this location to capture spectacular sunsets, models, couples, and family photos. There are some tunnels and arches in the rocks to the beach’s north. The nook and cranny of those tunnels is perhaps my favorite among so many spots on the El Matador beach. Every time I shoot photos at this spot, I lose myself in the enchanting aura of beauty this place echoes. When the sun is in the west, the sunlight reflecting on giant rocks peeking through trees gives El Matador beach a divine appearance. I find El Matador beach something out of this world among the hundreds of clients I have worked with within so many places. This beach and I seem to have a connection.
A Wonderful Place With A Wonderful Couple
My client Domonique and Darell fell in love with this location instantly. So automatically, it became more convenient for me to work with them. The chemistry between you and your client is a must to work together. Because couple photography takes a long time, both parties have to be on the same page through and through. Luckily Domonique, Darell, and I could develop that chemistry instantly. They loved how I approached my work, and I couldn’t admire everything about this gorgeous couple. They were very friendly and down-to-earth, making it easier to get along. We had so much fun working together. It felt more like a family get-together. Also, this couple was full of life and had so much bonding between them. The love I had seen in both eyes was shining more brightly than the scorching sun at the El Matador beach. Nothing could compliment Domonique and Darell more than the mesmerizing beauty of the El Matador state beach.
Tips on Shooting at El Matador Beach Malibu
You can produce professional-quality pictures on the El Matador beach with some tips and tricks. Let’s take a look:
Utilize the Golden hour
Everyone loves to enjoy the sunset and sunrise at the beach. The moment right before sunset and just after sunrise is the golden hour. The sun shines quite bright without the heat of the afternoon. The sky is slightly reddish now; pictures are less likely to suffer from overexposure. I personally prefer the golden hour for couple photography.
Wear Light Clothing
Being all day under the sun can be quite tasking on your body. So, make sure to wear light clothing. You can wear less showy clothes during engagement photoshoots. So, take advantage of that. Also, make sure the clothes are light-colored as well. Clothes that are light in color reflect more heat than they absorb. So, you won’t be as hot as wearing dark clothing.
Rehydrate
Make sure to rehydrate as often as possible. Drink plenty of water. You don’t want to look tired and drained on your photoshoots. If it’s an incredibly sweaty day, try drinking oral saline. These electrolytes make dehydrating even faster, allowing you to get refreshed and back to shooting more photos.
Do It Fast
The longer you wait around, the sweatier you’ll be, especially if you decide to do the photoshoots in heavy formal clothing. So, it’s in your best interest to plan out the whole shoot beforehand and then do quick shoots following a schedule.
Check The Weather Forecast
Rain is the most apparent reason to check the weather forecast before visiting the shooting site. But that’s not the only reason. Depending on what sort of look you are aiming for, a cloudy day could ruin the shot. Too much wind could also make the photoshoot chaotic. So, it’s best to check the forecast before planning your shoot date.
Have Fun
Don’t forget to have fun. The camera captures your emotions from the moment to the minute detail. So, faking it won’t give the right results. You and your partner must be in a good mood during the session and have fun. Ensuring that will provide the best results during the photoshoot.
Want to Know More?
Making memories with your loved ones is barely enough; capturing them will let you relive the golden times of your life when you grow old together. A trusted pair of hands with the right tools can deliver you what you want and beyond for something as precious as these photographs.
